Playlist for 'Songs Of The Wild', 01-25-2014, on wmua at radioactivity.fm
Show nameSongs Of The Wild
Show DJs Carolyn,WMUA
Show infoI play nature-related music that spans the genres from rock to folk to classical to children's' music. Each show follows a theme such as the water cycle, baby animals, forests, birds, ecosystems, green power, etc. I interweave articles and tidbits of information including fun facts about the theme of the show between songs. I plan to interview the occasional professor and/or scientist to give information on the certain theme. I know a forester that works for the DCR and is stationed on campus who offered to speak on my show about sustainable timber harvesting and forest conservation. In addition to song, articles, and interviews, I can also advertise Eco-friendly events that are happening locally. Some artists that I play regularly include Barefoot truth, Great Big Sea, Tom Rush, Dave Carter & Tracy Grammar, David Mallet, and many others. Just as there are many different branches of environmental science, there are many different themes that my show could follow, and I have never had trouble finding music to fit. A good portion of the music I play is from requests.
