Most music is of the indie/alternative genre, but the Upside of the Downside also includes, and is not limited to: folk, pop punk, punk, stoner metal, classic rock. A lot of artists similar in genre include: Okkervil River, Death Cab For Cutie, Tame Impala, The Decemberists, Broken Social Scene, Ty Segall, Brand New, Pixies, The Kinks, Best Coast, Tegan and Sara, Deer Tick, Black Sabbath, Misfits, Dr. Dog, Nick Drake, Rilo Kiley, The Modern Lovers, Radiohead, Joy Division, Bon Iver, Animal Collective, Eisley, The Postal Service, Jenny Lewis, Arctic Monkeys. Interspersed throughout such lovely soundwaves are the sultry sounds, voices, and characters of DJ Creamer and DJ Von Layaway, offering our off-kilter guidance to our listeners and anyone willing to play along. We also like to give shout outs and plays to local bands, artists, and other cool individuals doing awesome community-like things because they often compose a majority of our audience.
